Dr. S. Mimi Luo hails originally from NYC and received an undergraduate degree in operations research engineering from Cornell University. She then obtained her medical degree from Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine – in affiliation with Case Western Reserve University – where she and mentor Dr. Anand-Apte were the recipients of the Research to Prevent Blindness Medical Student Eye Research Fellowship, as well as the National Institute of Health’s T32 grant, to support their studies on proteomics and mouse models of diabetic retinopathy.
Dr. Luo completed residency training at the University of Cincinnati where she was recognized for her exemplary service during the COVID-19 pandemic, where she served as co-chief resident and, was nominated and inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical society.
Dr. Luo is delighted to now be part of Dr. Black’s eye care family to improve and preserve sight across Kentuckiana. She has a passion for surgical innovations and a focus on general ophthalmology, especially in the management of cataracts and glaucoma.
When not seeing patients, she enjoys exploring the great outdoors, sampling the diverse cuisines in the region, as well as cooking for her friends and family.
