Dr. David Strickland is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in refractive surgery. He is thrilled to be returning to the Louisville area to join Dr. Black’s Eye Associates after a global adventure in the United States Navy for the past eight years. Dr. Strickland was born and raised in Houston, Texas and met his wife, a Kentucky native, at Johns Hopkins University where they were both attending college. Together they attended medical school in the commonwealth at the University of Louisville. Immediately following graduation, Dr. Strickland entered active duty in the Navy and relocated to San Diego, CA. where he completed his residency training in Ophthalmology and Refractive Surgery at Naval Medical Center San Diego. He and his wife then became stationed at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, the largest Marine Corps Base on the East Coast. Dr. Strickland will be leaving the Navy with the rank of lieutenant commander.
Dr. Strickland has had the honor of performing LASIK, PRK, refractive lens exchange, and Visian ICL surgery on our service members and has performed well over 2,000 procedures.
When not working directly with his patients, Dr. Strickland enjoys spending time with his wife, who is a practicing OB/GYN, and three wonderful girls who keep them busy and entertained.
